Let’s start by untangling the name

Ditoui was started by Charlie Scott and is a reflection of his particular approach and sensibility.

Pronounced in French, Charlie’s initials (C.S.) sound a lot like say yes in English. Flip those two words back into French and you get dit oui, or Ditoui. Why does this wordplay matter? Understanding the name Ditoui is important because the word represents an idea, an idea that we’re the sum of what we say yes to. The people, places, and things that we choose as we move through life, these create a reflection of who we are. By editing the options we reduce clutter, create clarity, and develop personality.

who is Charlie?

Charlie is an entrepreneur, strategist, writer, photographer, design aficionado, and master traveller. He is a curious cat with heaps of enthusiasm and a frisky sense of creativity. He is non-traditional, highly-visual, and artistically-minded.

But that's only half the story.

He is also a critical-thinking, efficiency-loving, ultra-reliable sort of guy. Wildly imaginative, without being flakey. And remarkably logical, but not nerdy.

With more than twenty five years of experience in the travel business, it’s an area of deep experience and expertise. Charlie worked with the active luxury travel company Butterfield & Robinson for nearly a decade (1994-2003) in a range of roles—guide, researcher, photographer, marketer, and director of trips in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Hankering to create a business from scratch he co-founded Trufflepig, a high-end trip planning company, where he spent ten years (2004-2014) coordinating everything from branding to budgeting to staffing to dealing with a global roster of clients and suppliers to marketing to figuring out what to do when the sh*# hits the fan halfway around the world.

Since leaving Trufflepig, Charlie has engaged in a wide sweep of projects and work. He’s done brand architecture and strategy consulting for an eclectic portfolio of companies in travel, fashion, finance, and interior design. And for two years he shepherded branding and communications for TAS, a dynamic real estate development firm. In 2018, Charlie unplugged and travelled around the world with his family for a year and ended up living in Bali where his kids went to school in the jungle. He now lives in Knowlton, Quebec in a house he helped build and drives around the countryside in a Land Rover that’s older than he is.

Who is the ‘we’?

Charlie works independently much of the time, but collaborates with other people and organizations as and when it makes sense—kind of like an international art thief who pulls together a crack team for a specific heist. Except he’s an artist, not a thief.

So they say

“a rare breed. that special mix of right and left brain that makes him one of the most strategic creative minds that I've ever worked with.”

“He takes his work to heart and doesn't let the challenge go until he nails it.”

“Charlie is magic—his enthusiasm is infectious and his passion is inspiring.”

“HIs approach to problem-solving is organized and analytical and his solutions are fresh and original.”
